    Numerical analysis of high-index nanocomposite encapsulant for light-emitting diodes

    We used two-dimensional Finte-Difference-Time-Domain (FDTD) software to study the transition behavior of nano-particles from scatterers to an optically uniform medium. We measured the transmission efficiency of the dipole source, which is located in the high refractive index medium(index=2.00) and encapsulated by low index resin(index=1.41). In an effort to compose index-matched resin and to reduce internal reflection, high-index nano-particles are added to low-index resin in simulations of various sizes and densities. As the size of the nano-particles and the average spacing between particles are reduced to 0.02 lambda and 0.07 lambda respectively, the transmission efficiency improves two-fold compared to that without nanoparticles. The numerical results can be used to understand the optical behavior of nano-particles and to improve the extraction efficiency of high brightness light-emitting-diodes(LEDs), through the use of nano-composite encapsulant.Comment: 9 pages, 5 jpg figure

This thesis particularly focused on regional innovation policies, specifically industry-academia collaboration (lAC) policies in South Korea, a politically centralised country in which an attempt to enhance the role and interaction of local agencies fi:om a perspective of a bottom-up approach was emerging. By utilising an analytical framework underpinned by agency-structure relations, implementation models anc the notion of demand-side coherence, this thesis attempted to gain a better understanding of the behavioural differences between diverse agencies in the policy implementation process and the influence of policy delivery systems on their actions

    We propose a BaCeO3/BaZrO3 double-layer buffer template, grown on a SrTiO3 substrate, for epitaxial growth of a target oxide film with large lattice constants of over 4.1 . Lattice mismatch from the substrate was mostly accommodated for by a BaZrO3 arbitrating layer. Having an ideal in-plane lattice structure, BaCeO3 served as the main-buffer to grow the target material. We demonstrated commensurate epitaxy of BaBiO3 (BBO,a = 4.371 ) utilizing the new buffer template. The coordination polymer exhibits a two-dimensional layer structure. The layers are wave-like and parallel to the crystallographic ac plane; AgI ions are linked by the bctmb ligands and nitrate anions along the crystallographic a and c directions, respectively.
